Explanation/Summary (attach supplement sheets as necessary.) ,SUMMARY; I At the October 23 Council meeting, Community Development Coordinator Paul Harrington was appointed Interim City Administrator. What did not occur at that time was setting the compensation for the increased responsibilities. There are several issues that warrant Council consideration: 1. Monthly compensation 2. Car allowance 1. COMPENSATION I asked Michele Severson to call several cities in the Metro area who have recently (within the past 0-4 years) appointed an Interim City Administrator. Two cities, St. Anthony and Shakopee, moved the Interim's salary up to the Administrator's salary. Two years ago, New Brighton appointed the j Assistant as Interim and increased the monthly salary by $1,000 plus the existing car allowance. Plymouth did the same. C Five years ago, the City appointed Ric Minetor as Interim at an increase of $5,000 per year which remained after I was hired. He was also given a car allowance. Mendota Heights has just appointed an Interim and although the salary has not been determined, it will be higher than all other department heads, yet not as high as the outgoing Administrator. It is clear that the compensation for an Interim Administrator varies as much as the individual cities. However, conventional wisdom places a "reasonable" amount of $1,000/mo increase for a department head who - - umes the role of Interim City Administrator.
