CITY OF
REQUEST FOR COUNCIL CONSIDERATION Agenda Section: 1 2
111706Report Number:STAFF REPORT 95 1506WS
W AGENDA SESSION DATE NovemhPr 6. 1995 Report Date: 11-2-95
DISPOSITION
Item Description:
Administrator's Review/Recommendation:
- No comments to supplement this report Alk.I,as07
- Comments attached.
6
Explanation/Summary (attach supplement shee s as necessary.)
SUMMARY;
QUARTERLY REPORT
PARKS, RECREATION & FORESTRY
(July, August, September)
PARKS:
This summer's weather was very good for turf growth which is good in that park grass is
healthy and green, bad in the fact that healthy green grass requires constant mowing.
And, lots of mowing, we did!! Seasonals were mowing grass nearly every day of the
summer. We were very lucky to have the new mowers, which worked great this
summer. The high demand for park athletic field use also required constant field
grooming. Our athletic fields received excellent maintenance this summer which is
reflective in the evaluations of user groups. In addition to general parks maintenance,
the parks crew participated in several repair projects including: replacing the shingles at
Lakeside Park picnic shelter and Greenfield Park storage building, painting Hillview and
Lambert hockey boards, installing amenities including a drinking fountain and trash
receptacle at Oakwood Park, repairs to park buildings, fences, bridges, playground
equipment, signs, nets, etc., and other constant duties including trash removal,
fertilization, aeration, mowing, graffiti removal were performed.
RECREATION:
This summer quarter was as busy as every other summer seems to be. Summer
recreation activities continued throughout the month of July and first part of August.
Fall athletic programs began in mid-August continuing through and beyond September.
-7
/ , .
M ytfSa, iron Director
RECOMMENDATION; P.rks, Recreation and Forestry
