With some additional time and effort the data base can be revised to permit the creation of <br /> an on-going quarterly report to each city indicating those firms whose leases are expected to <br /> terminate within the following 6 to 9 months. On going maintenance of such a system may <br /> require re-surveying firms with leases a bit more frequently than owner occupied firms. <br /> Working Group Question and Comments: <br /> Would such a tickler file be of value to your city? Should such a tickler file system be limited <br /> to only high priority firms? <br /> • All cities felt such a list could be beneficial, while several felt the list could be prioritized <br /> several thought a more complete list would be informative. <br /> Chapter Ten: Business Plans and Growth <br /> While growth can result in increased jobs and tax base it also can lead to out-migration and is not <br /> clearly a function of city economic development staffs. <br /> Working Group Question and Comments <br /> Is the promotion of growth within the local economy a function that should be promoted at <br /> the city level? Should efforts to achieve such growth be promoted on a city by city level or <br /> should they be pursued regionally? <br /> • Group members felt that the promotion of local economic growth was an appropriate <br /> activity of both parties rather than one or the other. <br /> • The majority felt a regional strategy supplemented by individual city efforts to deal with <br /> local specifics was the most promising course. <br /> 21 <br />
