COMMUNITY
DEVELOPMENT
POTENTIAL MERMAID EXPANSION
I will be meeting with Dan Hall of the Mermaid next week to discuss the potential
expansion of their facility to include a hotel and meeting facility. In particular,
discussion will center on the ability of the site to handle additional storm water runoff
caused by the proposed expansion. Following our discussions, Dan, his engineer
and I will be meeting with Kate Drewry of the Rice Creek Watershed District to review
issues of concern to that agency. Based on the outcome of our meetings, I anticipate
that formal application for City review of the project will occur sometime in late
February, early March.
SHERWOOD ESTATES DEVELOPMENT AGREEMENT
Staff has completed the draft of the Sherwood Estates Development Agreement and
anticipates formally presenting it to the City Council at the January 23, 1995 meeting.
The City Attorney has already reviewed the document and found it to be in proper
order. Following execution of the Agreement, Staff will require the developer to post
125% of the estimated construction costs in a bond for assurance that the project is
completed according to approved plans. The anticipated date for construction to
start on the project is April 1995.
Paul
