Monday night's meeting
Geri Evans will be present at Monday night's meeting to present Diane Wuori with a
resolution. A beautiful plague has been prepared for Council presentation to Geri on
Monday night. She has been such a trooper for the City; it is very sad to see her go.
General News
If you didn't know, I was out ill Tuesday and Wednesday of this week. I had the head
and chest cold from Hell. I don't know why we feel the need to stay home when we're
sick it certainly is not the place one can get any rest. And, it always seems like the
rest of the family begins to vie for the title of "who's the sickest". I am glad to be back!
Next week, Cathy Bennett and I will be meeting with Chris Samuels, Director of
Property Taxation for Ramsey County. The purpose is to introduce him to Cathy and
meet his new assistant. Because Cathy will be involved in the City's tax increment
financing activities, it is important for her and Chris to establish a good working
relationship.
Cathy and I will also be meeting with Nick Tamali next week to discuss an idea of his
regarding Edgewood School and possible space for community center activities. I will
know more after our meeting and will update you in the next issue of This Is It.
Airport
Tim Cruikshank brought in an articles from the Pioneer Press about the Anoka
County-Blaine Airport's proposed air traffic control tower. I have included it herein.
Two residents, Sue Weber and Rein Markfeldt have been very interested in meeting
with representatives from MAC regarding both the tower and the proposed duel
runways. Two meetings have been scheduled, but because of MAC scheduling
conflicts and then my absence yesterday, the meeting has been postponed until after
Sue Weber returns from vacation.
Rein has requested that MAC provide him with the formula by which MAC calculated
the number of yearly operations. His request for this information was made to MAC
over two months ago and he has yet to receive the information. Rein firmly believes
that the 195,000 operations per year at the airport is a gross exaggeration, but cannot
determine this until he knows how that number was determined.
A meeting will be scheduled for the middle of this month. I will be asking both Steve
Novak and Dick Pellow to attend the meeting. As soon as we have a confirmed date,
I will inform the Council.
