Staff Report
Re: Festival in the Park
January 23, 1995
Page two
The Festival Committee has developed a proposed budget for the 1995 Festival (see attached.)
This budget does not include fireworks which would cost approximately $6,500. The Fundraising
Committee is currently formulating fundraising activities to help raise the $6,500 needed to
provide fireworks. At the January 18, 1995 meeting of the Festival Committee, membersvoted
to pursue funding for the fireworks, as it was felt that the community appreciated fireworks and
it served as a great finale for a week of celebration.
As-can-be-seen-on-the-proposed-budget-for-m,-the Festival-Comm-ittee_has_set-a_budget_o_f
$11,600 (without fireworks) for the 1995 Festival. The Committee is requesting that the City of
Mounds View contribute $4,000 for the operation of the Festival in the Park. These funds will
be used to secure entertainment, provide restroom facilities, power sources, barricades, the
showmobile stage unit, and other basic operating expenses. Other funding sources include
donations from Western Bank, the Mermaid Entertainment Center, the Mounds View Lions
Club, the Suburban Area Chamber of Commerce, and revenues from the Arts and Crafts Fair.
Members of the Festival Committee will be available at the Council Meeting to answer any
questions you may have regarding the plans for the Festival in the Park celebration.
Sharie Linke, Administrative Assistant
Mounds View Parks, Recreation and Forestry Department
