INSURANCE PROVIDER On Wednesday, March 15, a PEIP representative presented the details of their insurance plan to the non-union and Police employees. The Public Works Department will receive a presentation on Wednesday, March 22 . BEL-RAE On Friday (3/10) , a resident of Landmark Estates called to ask if it were true that the City purchased the Bel-Rae ballroom. I told him this was not true and thanked him for calling the City to get the correct information. FREENET On Friday, March 10, the City of Mounds View gained access to the Internet via the Twin Cities Freenet. Only a few workstations will have access to the Internet for the time being, until the file server can be utilized as the central "on-ramp" . The main goal now will be to enter data and prepare it for use by the public. If all goes as planned, this is to be completed in the next 6 - 12 months. CD-ROM The Police Department can now read the State Statutes from three CD-Rom drives. This technology will make it easier and faster to access this information. MICROFILM MACHINE The 1995 budget included the lease of an new microfilm machine. The one we have is over 10 years old and it shows in the quality of prints, they are barely readable. At the beginning of next week, the first of three vendors will be demonstrating a new machine to staff. Tim C. Dynex Industries: • After careful consideration Dynex has made the decision that they will be unable to generate the 20 news jobs required for $100,000 in funds from the Economic Recovery Grant. Brian Sjoberg was appreciative of Mounds Views support in submitting the application.
