UNAPPROVED
Mounds View City Council Page 8
Regular Meeting May 22, 1995
As a citizen, she would prefer to see the width of residential
streets set at 28 feet.

Relating to the question of stricter law enforcement for speeding,
Ms. Haake was in favor of stricter law enforcement; however, she
felt the highway speed restriction should be 65 miles per hour.

Bruce Brasaemle, 5127 Long Lake Road, stated that he was opposed to
widening the residential streets, citing a reduction in green space
and increase of ground water pollutants, as well as additional
chemicals that would be needed for snow removal. He also felt the
increase in costs involved with wider streets could force some
residents to leave the community.

Mr. Brasaemle was in favor of stricter law enforcement for
speeding.

Charles Young, 3032 County Road I, expressed concern regarding the
County Road that he lives on. He also commented on the leaf
recycling process.

Larry Windingstad, 2595 Woodcrest Drive, concurred with
Councilmember Trude's opinion of widening the streets. He was
opposed to widening residential streets beyond 28 feet.

He was in favor of any efforts to get speeders to slow down.

Leonard Gustafson, 5126 Greenwood Drive, asked for clarification of
the process required to adopt an ordinance on this matter. Mayor
Linke offered an explanation.

Jeff Pheneger, 2235 Lambert Avenue, stated that he was in favor of
the 28 foot width for residential streets. He felt that parking on
one side of the street would be an alternative to widening the
street.

Mr. Pheneger was also in favor of stricter law enforcement for
speeding. He cited the area of Lambert Park as having many
speeding problems which make the streets unsafe for children.

Leroy Luchsinger, 2153 Terrace Drive, expressed his gratitude to
Mr. Beck, author of an article in the New Brighton Bulletin
regarding this public hearing for street standards. Mr. Luchsinger
was in favor of 30 foot wide streets.

Alvin Dahlberg, 5107 Greenwood Drive, was concerned that the City
of Mounds View was planning to do a massive reconstruction project
and he felt there were streets which were many years old that still
didn't need to be reconstructed.
