COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT <br />The Community Development Department, currently consisting of the Community <br />Development Coordinator, Engineering Aide, Building Inspector, Planning Associate/Code <br />Enforcement Officer, Housing Inspector and Department Secretary, has as its focus the <br />administrative application of land use and building regulations as adopted by the Municipal <br />Code. The main goal of the Department is to ensure that development within the City is <br />accomplished in accordance with the requirements spelled out in various City Codes as well <br />as planning and providing for a conducive living and working habitat for Mounds View's <br />resident population. <br />In 1996 and beyond, the Department will continue to provide quality services to the City, <br />including: <br />a. Planning and Zoning Review, zoning code enforcement, development review, planning <br />and zoning code review. <br />b. Building inspection, fire inspection, housing inspection and plan review. <br />c. Recycling coordination and reporting, educational <br />activities to reduce solid waste disposal problems and incentives for recycling. <br />d. Implementation of zoning and sign code regulations including issuance of permits and <br />enforcement of violations; also including enforcement of public nuisance codes <br />related to land use. <br />e. Housing rehabilitation program administration - including <br />grant administration, rental inspection and promotion <br />1996 - 2000 GOALS <br />1996 <br />* Finalize updates to Zoning and Sign chapters of the Mounds View Municipal Code. <br />* Begin implementation of recommendations contained in the Housing Stock Analysis <br />Report. <br />* Enhance the rental housing inspection program by increasing the number of <br />inspections provided. <br />* Establish Multi -Family Managers Coalition. <br />28 <br />
