Ms. Orduno <br /> 15 explained that, since this was -an arbitration award, the <br /> 16 Council is bound by State Law to approve. <br /> 17 <br /> 18 MOTION/SECOND: Hankner/Trude to Adopt Resolution No. 4746 <br /> 19 Approving the Union Contract and the 1995 Compensation <br /> 20 Schedule and Insurance Contribution Schedule for Police Union <br /> 21 <br /> 22 VOTE: 5 ayes 0 nays Motion Carried <br /> 23 <br /> 24 H. Consideration of Resolution No. 4753 Approving the Bargaining <br /> 25 Unit Contract and the 1995 Compensation Schedule and Insurance <br /> 26 Contribution Schedule for the Public Works and Parks <br /> 27 Maintenance Bargaining Unit <br /> 28 <br /> 29 Samantha Orduno, City Administrator, read the provisions of <br /> 30 the labor agreement and noted the changes from the previous <br /> 31 agreement. <br /> 32 <br /> 33 MOTION/SECOND: Trude/Hankner to Adopt Resolution No. 4753 <br /> 34 Approving the Bargaining Unit Contract and the 1995 <br /> 35 Compensation Schedule and Insurance Contribution Schedule for <br /> 36 the Public Works and Parks Maintenance Bargaining Unit <br /> 37 <br /> 38 Tim Cruikshank, Assistant to the City Administrator, presented <br /> 39 information to the City Council which was a requirement of a <br /> 40 State Law passed by the Minnesota Legislature in 1993 . The <br /> 41 law requires public employers to furnish the information to <br /> 42 the public as well as the City Council upon ratifying a <br /> 43 collective bargaining agreement. The intent of the law is to <br /> 44 provide a standard basis to compare total compensation <br /> 45 settlements from year to year. <br /> 46 <br /> 47 Ms. Orduno stressed that this requirement was a costly, time <br /> 48 consuming and irrelevant document. It is the epitome of an <br /> 49 unfunded mandate. <br /> 50 <br />
