PARKS, RECREATION AND FORESTRY
PARKS:
* Signs have been prepared and installed at Silver View Park as a result of the
problem of people driving on the turf, which is considered vandalism since it
damages the athletic turf requiring effort and time to restore. The signs
simply let people know that the grass is seeded and should not be used until
further notice.
* Both Steve and Jeff attended the "Entrenchment" seminar on Thursday - a
required course for everyone who participates in sewer or water main
repairs.
* Parks mowers and truck were ordered this week as approved by the City
Council.
* The re-shingling of Lakeside Park picnic shelter was completed last week.
RECREATION:
* The interview panel (including Joyce Pruitt, Jim Hess, Mike Ulrich, Julie
Trude and Mary Saarion) listened to five presentations by firms who had
submitted proposals for design, engineering and inspection services for the
pedestrian bridge. One more interview will be held on Monday, March 27.
After this time the Council will be given a recommendation for design,
engineering and inspection services for the project.
* Sharie has been working on 3 City Matters publications including the Goals
issue, a Golf Course issue and the regular May issue of Mounds View
Matters.
* The Parks and Recreation Commission meets tonight - Thursday, March 23.
Zak Hansen will be meeting with the Commissioners to discuss ways to
cooperate in landscaping Ardan Park so that the compost facility is more
aesthetically pleasing. Also, the issue of traffic flow will be discussed for
those days in the Spring and Fall when Long Lake Road is tied up due to
long lines waiting to drop off leaves or pick up compost.
Another item includes working out details for a lease agreement in regards to
a request by MVAA to place an equipment storage building on City property.
GOLF COURSE:
