January-February March, 1995 Quarterly Report Page Three FORESTRY DIVISION: • Forestry crew trimmed trees in parks, concentrating most time at Silver View Park. • Forestry crew trimmed boulevard trees as time allowed. • Forester prepared specs and solicited bids for 1995 tree removal services. • Forester prepared and submitted tree grants. • Staff_prepared_information_for_spring_tr_eesale_program. __ • Forester prepared specifications and solicited bids for trees to be purchased with grant funds received in 1994 and carried over for 1995 spring planting. • Forestry crew mulched City Hall front landscaping. • Staff solicited applications and hired seasonal forestry crew members. GOLF COURSE: • Ordered supplies for clubhouse, office, scorecards and pencils, retail and other items. • Ordered equipment: tables, chairs, office furniture, range balls, range baskets, range mats, range tees, range ball dispenser, range picker and cage, freezer and refrigerator, safe, rental clubs, pull carts, and other items. • Interviewed vending services companies for candy, pop, chips, and sandwiches sales. • Researched licensing needs for vending operations with State Department of Health and State Department of Agriculture. • Assembled golf course benches. • Solicited cost estimates for various printed materials including envelopes and stationary. • Ordered a master golf course rendition from Williams, Gill and Associates. • Assisted in the preparation of a Manager/Pro job description. • Assisted in interviews for Manage/Pro position. • Negotiated lease of 12 power carts. • Assisted in design of lighted Highway sign for 35W. • Ordered sign for County Road J and with assistance of Parks crew, installed the two-sided sign. • Prepared a golf course update for the City Council. • Organized 1994 golf course expenditures in budget categories. • Met with Finance Director several times to verify and account for golf course finances. • Collected information for insurance agent. • Prepared written materials for magazine publications, newspaper articles, staff and council information, city newsletters, flyers, etc. • Arranged publicity opportunities through yellow pages directory, Sunday newspaper feature, golf coupon books. • Cable TV shows — introduction of Brus von Ende, Golf Course Manager/Pro and "Golf Tip of the Week". • Ordered greens flags — installation pending. • Prepared newspaper ads for seasonal workers.
