Explanation/Summary (attach supplement sheets as necessary.) SUMMARY; Two requests for position reclassification have come before me for consideration: reclassification of the Public Works Division Secretary's position to a Department Secretary and Engineering Aid, level 2 .5 to level 3 .5. The reclassification of the Public Works Secretary was discussed last year during the Budget process, but was delayed until 1995. Money was placed in the "95 Budget for this reclassification which Council is requested to consider at this time. The Five Step Plan for the Department Secretary is: STEP 1 STEP 2 STEP 3 STEP 4 STEP 5 $24,261. 12 $25,777 .44 $27, 293 .76 $28, 810. 08 $30, 326. 40 The current Public Works Secretary was hired as a Division Secretary. Since that time her responsibilities have significantly increased (please see attached memo from Public Works Director, Mike Ulrich) . Her duties and position description is now that of a Department Secretary. Currently salary is $25, 272 . It is suggested that the position be reclassified, effective April 11, to Step 2 of the new position with advancement to Step 3 (pending satisfactory performance) in one year and to Step 4 in two years and Step 5 in three years. The attached memo from Community Development Coordinator, Paul Harrington, outlines the request for reclassification of the Engineering Aide.
