WOOD CARVING OF CITY LOGO - 1993 saw the back wall of the Council Chambers <br /> receive a facelift. A wood carving of the City Logo was mounted in the center panel <br /> for aesthetic purposes. <br /> DECLARE AND SELL OBSOLETE EQUIPMENT - Several old computer monitors and <br /> various other office equipment was declared obsolete and sold. This project may take <br /> place again this year after the City Hall expansion project is completed. <br /> PERSONNEL <br /> AFFIRMATIVE ACTION PLAN - The City of Mounds View's Certificate of Compliance <br /> with the Minnesota State Human Rights Department's affirmative action policy was <br /> due to expire this year. The Certificate of Compliance is valid for two years at which <br /> time the City will need to submit an updated plan. The plan covers a range of data <br /> about the organizational workforce such as workforce availability, utilization and <br /> underutilization analyses, goals and objectives for corrective action if necessary, <br /> identify problem areas such as recruitment if they exist, measures of implementation <br /> and an internal audit and reporting system. Compliance with these requirements <br /> enables Mounds View to be an Affirmative Action/Equal Opportunity Employer. At <br /> the 6/14/93 regular Council meeting, Resolution No.4373 was approved adopting the <br /> City of Mounds View's Affirmative Action Plan. <br /> EMPLOYMENT ACTIVITY - Throughout the course of the year, several employees <br /> were hired, some as temporary or seasonal and others as regular full-time. To <br /> accommodate the Community Development Department parental leave of their <br /> department secretary, a temporary was hired for a six month period. In April, a <br /> regular part-time custodian was hired to cut costs and to increase the quality of <br /> service that we were getting from the privately contracted vendor. During the <br /> summer months, the Public Works Department hires several seasonal employees to <br /> assist with projects and workload. To help with the Focus 2000 project, an intern <br /> was hired for a six month temporary assignment. Lastly, to fill an open regular, full- <br /> time Public Works Maintenance position, a Public Works Maintenance Worker was <br /> hired. <br /> TRAINING - Several training sessions took place for City employees during 1993. In <br /> February a speaker presented a Humor in the Work Place seminar that emphasized the <br /> importance of enjoying the work place and the positive impact it can have. In March, <br /> employees took part in a five hour CPR and First Aid training session. In June and <br /> September, employees learned about Sexual Harassment in the work place, and in <br /> October, 10/20/93, city employees participated in the Meyers/Briggs personality traits <br /> seminar that was conducted by a teacher from the University of Minnesota. We all <br /> took individual assessment tests and were evaluated to see what each of our <br /> dominant traits were. <br /> SAFETY - In September of this year, an employee safety committee was created to <br />
