COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT <br /> 1993 YEAR-END REPORT <br /> PAGE FIVE <br /> FIVE YEAR GOAL PROGRAM - COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT INVOLVEMENT <br /> The Community Development Department was also involved in the <br /> implementation of the Five Year Goal Program adopted by the City <br /> Council following their goal setting session in April of 1993 . <br />_ - - Specifically, the Department was involved in the following Goals: <br /> Goal No. 1 - Develop and Implement a "Community-Driven Visionincf <br /> Process" to Actively Involve Community Stakeholders, of all Ages, <br /> in the City's Long Range Planning Process. <br /> Both the City Planner and the Code Enforcement Officer took part in <br /> the Focus 2000 Project by attending all public forums and serving <br /> as Staff liaisons to the Growth, Development and Business Project <br /> Team. Staff provided the Team members with requested information, <br /> agendas and minutes as well as conducting requested surveys and <br /> presenting oral reports. <br /> Goal No. 3 - Rehabilitate City Hallas a Functional, Attractive <br /> Visual Focus for the Entire Community. <br /> Departmental Staff directed the construction of the new City Hall <br /> entryway in June/July of 1993 . The project was a result of a <br /> Community Development Block Grant acquired in 1992 . The entryway <br /> was the first step in providing the City with a building which will <br /> eventually be in total compliance with ADA standards for <br /> accessibility. <br /> Goal No. 5 - Explore Mechanisms to Provide for the Rehabilitation <br /> of Existing Housing Stock. <br /> In 1993, Staff contacted City's in the Metro area to get ideas and <br /> suggestions on the possible implementation of a comprehensive <br /> Housing Stock inventory program. The results of this survey were <br /> brought the Council and following discussion, the decision was made <br /> to add a Housing Intern position to the 1994 budget. It is the <br /> hope of the Council and Staff that the position will eventually be <br /> somewhat self-supporting through fees for inspection and point-of- <br /> sale services. <br />
