COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT <br /> 1993 YEAR-END REPORT <br /> PAGE FOUR <br /> GOAL NO. 8 DEVELOP POLICY OF AMORTIZATION OF NON-CONFORMING USES <br /> As time presented itself, Staff began the process of documenting <br /> and cataloging the current land-use conditions along the Highway 10 <br /> Corridor including parking availability, signage, specific uses and <br /> building location. Staff was able to get approximately 40-50% of <br /> the properties done and, the hope is that the Housing Intern can <br /> also do some field work to assist in the completion of this goal. <br /> GOAL NO. 9 EXPAND HOUSING INSPECTION PROGRAM <br /> The City Planner and Building Official surveyed surrounding <br /> communities for staffing levels and program ideas regarding the <br /> establishment of a comprehensive housing inspection program. The <br /> findings were presented to the City Council and based upon those <br /> findings and the desire of the residents taking part in the Focus <br /> 2000 Project, a Housing Intern position was added for 1994 . Staff <br /> anticipates having the position filled by April of 1994. <br /> GOAL NO. 10 RECYCLING/SOLID WASTE ISSUES AND PROGRAM FOR <br /> IMPROVEMENT <br /> In 1993, the Recycling Coordinator and the Environmental Quality <br /> Commission continued their study of Solid waste disposal and <br /> recycling options. A recommendation on both items as they relate <br /> to Multi-family housing will be presented at the February 1994 City <br /> Council Work Session. <br /> GOAL NO. 13 REVIEW OVERALL STAFFING LEVELS <br /> The City Planner and Public Works Supervisor met to determine the <br /> Staffing needs of both the Community Development and Public Works <br /> Departments. Following this review, a recommendation was forwarded <br /> to the City Council. Based on that recommendation, the Council <br /> added a Public Works Maintenance Worker and a Housing Intern to the <br /> Staffing levels for 1994. <br />
