The windows at Lambert Park building have needed reinforcement and
that work has been done this week.
RECREATION:
Planning continues for Spring registrations, typically our largest
registration because it encompasses summer athletic programs that
begin in the Spring. Intern Brad is practicing his skills in planning the
Safety Camp and the School Days Out vacation activities for the week
after Easter when the schools are out.
The Minnesota Recreation & Parks Association is scheduling an
abbreviated Conference February 10 and 11 because the State will be
hosting the National Convention in October, 1994. Brad, Mary and I will
be attending the Conference in Minneapolis, and I will be attending the
State Bicycle Conference on Friday, February 11 .
Staff is working on the CDBG grant for park building improvements but I
am a little concerned about meeting the criteria for low-moderate income.
or accessibility criteria.
Connie Thompson called from the City of Fridley to inform us that the
grant for the RSC was approved for $75,000. It is hoped that with this
first grant award that many others will follow in a sort of snowballing
effect. Who knows? Anyway, the money is available if and when the
project ever finds a site and if and when the four Cities approve the
project. Site location remains the dilemma at this time. It is rumored that
New Brighton City Council is negotiating with Gould regarding TIF for the
project, that the Church Upon the Rock has found a place in Blaine. But
this is hearsay and nothing has been presented to the RSC Task Force
yet.
The Neighborhood and Housing Project Team met last Monday to review
and revise their recommendations. They continue to be a proponent of
the process and really see the Focus 2000 project as a success in getting
people involved and informed and wish to have the process continue.
Two have been selected for the Steering Committee, Steven Easton and
Stephen Benson with Linka Holey as an alternate.
The Golf Course Task Force is having a reprieve until the news on the
Construction Documents of the golf course buildings or other information.
