Mounds View City Council March 22, 2010 <br />Regular Meeting Page 9 <br /> <br />catered luncheon to a potluck, reducing the expense to $800 with the employees still receiving an 1 <br />appreciation certificate. 2 <br /> 3 <br />Council Member Gunn appreciated Staff’s ability to reduce the expense. 4 <br /> 5 <br />Council Member Mueller felt the appreciation luncheon should be held and thanked Staff for 6 <br />finding an alternative to the catered meal. She was in favor of presenting staff with the 7 <br />appreciation certificates. 8 <br /> 9 <br />Council Member Hull questioned if the budget could be reduced to $175. City Administrator 10 <br />Ericson felt this would be possible. 11 <br /> 12 <br />Council Member Stigney was in agreement that the luncheon should be cut back and thanked 13 <br />Staff for the recommendations. Mayor Flaherty agreed. 14 <br /> 15 <br />City Administrator Ericson reported the City is still in labor negotiations with LELS and 16 <br />AFSCME. 17 <br /> 18 <br />City Administrator Ericson indicated Clearwire was looking for an additional location for 19 <br />another tower within a City park. He stated this could be a potential revenue stream and asked if 20 <br />the Council would open to the idea. 21 <br /> 22 <br />Finance Director Beer suggested Clearwire erect the tower and be given reduced rent, but that the 23 <br />tower be owned by the City of Mounds View. He stated this would allow the City to collocate 24 <br />additional antennas on the tower. 25 <br /> 26 <br />Council Member Gunn indicated she would rather see the tower on a pole and not in the woods 27 <br />because she wanted to limit the number of trees lost in the City’s park. 28 <br /> 29 <br />Council Member Mueller stated the Council made it a goal to increase revenue streams and was 30 <br />in favor of exploring the idea of an additional tower. 31 <br /> 32 <br />Council Member Hull stated he was open to the idea of another tower and questioned if the Park 33 <br />and Recreation Board has discussed this idea. City Administrator Ericson explained this has not 34 <br />yet been brought to the Park Board. 35 <br /> 36 <br />Council Member Stigney indicated he would be willing to consider the tower. 37 <br /> 38 <br />Mayor Flaherty noted would be willing to review a tower plan as well. 39 <br /> 40 <br />City Administrator Ericson stated the state changed the date of the primary election was changed 41 <br />to August 10, 2010, and an updated calendar was provided to the Council. 42 <br /> 43 <br />City Administrator Ericson explained he attended the March 10, 2010, Charter Commission 44 <br />meeting.
