Mounds View City Council June 14, 2010 <br />Regular Meeting Page 15 <br /> <br />Mayor Flaherty reported the City received a plaque from the Irondale High School thanking the 1 <br />City for participating in the Strive Program. Council Member Gunn further explained how the 2 <br />Strive Program worked to increase the confidence of high school students. 3 <br /> 4 <br />Mayor Flaherty shared a letter from Northwest Youth and Family Services. 5 <br /> 6 <br />Council Member Mueller announced she would be attending the League of Minnesota Cities 7 <br />Seminar in St. Cloud, June 24-26, 2010, along with Council Member Gunn. 8 <br /> 9 <br />Council Member Mueller indicated the Festival in the Park was scheduled for August 21, 2010. 10 <br />She suggested anyone wishing to volunteer to contact the City for further information. 11 <br /> 12 <br />Council Member Gunn stated National Night Out will be August 3, 2010. She encouraged 13 <br />apartment complexes to take part in the event. 14 <br /> 15 <br />Council Member Hull noted some mail was stolen along Erickson Drive last month. Included in 16 <br />mail were utility/water bills for the residents that were now being charged a $5 late fee. He 17 <br />questioned if the $5 fee could be waived. 18 <br /> 19 <br />Finance Director Beer questioned if a police report was filed. Council Member Hull noted a 20 <br />report was filed as several residents were affected. 21 <br /> 22 <br />Mayor Flaherty suggested the residents speak with Finance Director Beer to request that the fees 23 <br />be waived. 24 <br /> 25 <br /> B. Reports of Staff. 26 <br /> 27 <br />1. Community Development Quarterly Report 28 <br /> 29 <br />Community Development Director Roberts reviewed the quarterly report in detail with the 30 <br />Council. He reported spending was below the 25% threshold at about 19%. In addition, 31 <br />revenues were down slightly but building permits this spring were increasing over last year. 32 <br />Community Development Director Roberts thanked his department and support staff stating they 33 <br />have been great to work with over the past two years. 34 <br /> 35 <br />Mayor Flaherty thanked Director Roberts for the great report. 36 <br /> 37 <br />2. Other Reports 38 <br /> 39 <br />Council Member Mueller questioned if any progress had been made at 2756 Sherwood Road. 40 <br />Public Works Director DeBar stated the contractor was using a sub-contractor to complete the 41 <br />modifications. He was working with Bonestroo to get the work completed properly and to 42 <br />receive a proper timeline. At this time $182,000 was being withheld from the contractor in an 43 <br />escrow account and if the work was not completed properly the City have it done using these 44 <br />funds. The homeowner has been informed of the progress. 45
