Mounds View City Council October 25, 2010 <br />Regular Meeting Page 12 <br /> <br /> 1 <br />Mayor Flaherty commented the loss of local government aid led the Council to make some tough 2 <br />decisions in budgeting for 2010 and 2011. He commended Staff and Council for reducing 3 <br />expenditures and becoming more efficient to handle these financial losses. 4 <br /> 5 <br />2. Administration Quarterly Report 6 <br /> 7 <br />City Administrator Ericson reviewed his administrative quarterly report. Much of his time has 8 <br />been spent on the 2011 budget in the third quarter. There was a $350,000 gap at the start of the 9 <br />third quarter and this discrepancy has been eliminated over time. He indicated Staff has been 10 <br />working diligently to prepare for the election as well, which would take place on November 2, 11 <br />2010. 12 <br /> 13 <br />City Administrator Ericson stated Staff was also working to acquire easements at the corner of 14 <br />County Road H and Silver Lake Road. These easements were received and forwarded to Ramsey 15 <br />County for recordation. Staff would continue to work on a lease and access easement with Dell 16 <br />Comm. This information should come before the Council in November. 17 <br /> 18 <br />City Administrator Ericson commented on the goals established by the Council in the beginning 19 <br />of the year and how actions completed in the past quarter correlated with these goals. 20 <br />Construction continued on Street Improvement Areas A, B and C. The City has received 21 <br />numerous positive comments from the residents. 22 <br /> 23 <br />City Administrator Ericson indicated the City currently has 120 foreclosed homes which the City 24 <br />was monitoring for code enforcement issues and all necessary assessments have been filed. The 25 <br />City was working and would continue to reach out to the residents and business community to 26 <br />find ways to increase communication, through the City’s website, newsletter, and via Facebook. 27 <br /> 28 <br />Mayor Flaherty thanked Staff for a job well done and asked that Heidi Steinmetz be personally 29 <br />thanked for her communication efforts.
