Mounds View City Council November 22, 2010 <br />Regular Meeting Page 7 <br /> <br />Finance Director Beer answered the Council's questions related to claims. 1 <br /> 2 <br />MOTION/SECOND: Mueller/Stigney. To Approve the Just and Correct Claims as presented. 3 <br /> 4 <br /> Ayes – 5 Nays – 0 Motion carried. 5 <br /> 6 <br />10. APPROVAL OF MINUTES 7 <br /> 8 <br />None. 9 <br /> 10 <br />11. REPORTS 11 <br />A. Reports of Mayor and Council. 12 <br /> 13 <br />Mayor Flaherty stated the proposed property taxes statements for 2011 have been sent out by 14 <br />Ramsey County. He reported his Ramsey County and school district taxes were increased but the 15 <br />City of Mounds View taxes went down. He indicated this may not be the case for all, but he was 16 <br />encouraged by the decrease. 17 <br /> 18 <br />Council Member Mueller mentioned that Susan Gaertner, Ramsey County Attorney, was being 19 <br />recognized for 16 years in leadership on December 7, 2010, at the Landmark Center in St. Paul. 20 <br /> 21 <br />Mayor Flaherty encouraged all to read the recent Mounds View Matters that contained a great 22 <br />deal of information on upcoming holiday events. 23 <br /> 24 <br />Council Member Mueller indicated Santa would be coming through the neighborhoods via fire 25 <br />truck December 6th through December 9th. She encouraged all to welcome him and present the 26 <br />firemen with a donation to the local food shelf. 27 <br /> 28 <br /> B. Reports of Staff. 29 <br />1. Community Development Department Third Quarter Report 30 <br /> 31 <br />Community Development Director Roberts reviewed his third quarter department report with the 32 <br />Council. Highlights included his department staying on budget through September, along with 33 <br />Select Senior Living signing a purchase agreement. Work may begin on this project in January. 34 <br />He reviewed that all code enforcement cases were closed this quarter with the exception of six. 35 <br />He indicated the majority of the issues addressed in the third quarter were leaf and grass 36 <br />concerns. 37 <br /> 38 <br />Community Development Director Roberts thanked the Council for approving the loan program 39 <br />guidelines as this has been a focus for his staff in recent months. He shared his appreciation for 40 <br />all in his department, each for their contributions to the City. 41 <br /> 42 <br />Mayor Flaherty thanked the Community Development Department for working so strongly on 43 <br />behalf of the City even while in an economic downturn, indicating that now was the time to 44 <br />prepare for upcoming opportunities. 45
