As seen in Table 2, the population doubled <br />from 6,413 in 1960 to 12,738 in 2000. For the future, the Metropolitan Council estimates that <br />Mounds View’s population will only slightly increase to 12,900 in 2010 and 13,000 in 2020. Table <br />3 shows that the population of Mounds View is aging. The median age of the population has <br />increased from 20.9 in 1970 to 33.5 in 2000. The senior population (those over the age of 65) has <br />increased from 6 percent to almost 9 percent of the City population.
