Discussion: <br />Allied Blacktop Co. has requested that acceptance and final payment be made <br />by the City for the 2008 Street Maintenance Project. All work has been <br />satisfactorily completed in accordance with the contract plans and specifications. <br />The necessary contract documents have been provided. A copy of Request for <br />Payment No. 2 & Final is included with this Staff Report, along with a project <br />summary letter providing a recap of the construction scope, schedule, and cost. <br />This construction contract was for a combined project with the City of Spring <br />Lake Park. In addition, the Spring Lake Park–Blaine–Mounds View (SBM) Fire <br />Department requested that the parking lot of Fire Station No. 1 be added to the <br />project after the construction contract had been awarded. Further details <br />regarding the scope of the work is provided in the project summary letter. <br />The original contract amount as awarded was $266,270.00. Based on revisions <br />made to the scope of work prior to the start of construction, the estimated value <br />of the work at the time construction began was $258,160.00. There were no <br />change orders to the project. The actual final construction cost is $253,448.14, <br />and the final payment amount is $16,385.04. <br />As noted in the project summary letter, the difference between the contract <br />amount and the actual final construction cost is very small and is due to minor <br />variations between the estimated and actual final quantities of individual items in <br />the construction contract. <br />An approximate breakdown of the final construction cost based on the agreement <br />between the two Cities and the authorization from the SBM Fire Department is <br />shown in the following table: <br />2008 Street Maintenance Project <br />Approximate Construction Cost Breakdown <br />Item Amount <br />Mounds View Construction Cost $157,694.13 <br />Spring Lake Park Construction Cost 92,614.01 <br />SBM Fire Dept. The results will be provided to the City <br />Finance Director for invoicing to Spring Lake Park and the SBM Fire Department.
