Resolution 7374, Authorizing the Purchase of a Podium for the Council 10 <br />Chambers. 11 <br /> 12 <br />Cable Coordinator VanAlstine provided podium options for Council consideration and 13 <br />recommended either the custom built podium or the off the shelf podium. 14 <br /> 15 <br />MOTION/SECOND: Mueller/Marty. To Approve Resolution 7374, Authorizing the Purchase 16 <br />of a Podium for the Council Chambers. 17 <br /> 18 <br />Council Member Stigney said that he does not support this as he has reviewed the website and 19 <br />there is another option that is only approximately $200 plus shipping. 20 <br /> 21 <br />Council Member Flaherty indicated that he likes the off the shelf as there is a feature that the 22 <br />custom version does not provide and, it is more affordable. 23 <br /> 24 <br />Council Member Mueller indicated that the custom made podium is of a quality that she would 25 <br />expect the City to purchase and provide to citizens not the pre-made off the shelf podium. The 26 <br />current podium is a poor quality “off the shelf” cheap purchase made less than 3 years ago, and 27 <br />clearly needs replacements. 28 <br /> 29 <br />Staff indicated that the reason to recommend the custom podium is because the same company 30 <br />did the millwork in City Hall during renovations and staff felt the podium should match. 31 <br /> 32 <br />Mayor Marty explained his support of the quality real wood custom podium. 33 <br /> 34 <br />Community Development Director Roberts said that the custom made podium allows for the 35 <br />ability to use the document camera 36 <br /> 37 <br />Council Member Elect Gunn agreed with the concern for quality and agreed that you get what 38 <br />you pay for. 39 <br /> 40 <br /> Ayes – 3 Nays – 2(Flaherty/Stigney) Motion carried. 41 <br /> 42 <br />F.
