Reports of Mayor and Council. 8 <br /> 9 <br />Council Member Mueller thanked the Rice Creek Watershed District for the curly leaf treatment of 10 <br />Spring Lake. She congratulated Tyler Abrahamson for achieving the rank of Eagle Scout and 11 <br />thanked him for his project to coordinate Silver View Park landscaping and plantings. 12 <br /> 13 <br />Council Member Hull requested an update on the installation of an autistic child sign. Clerk-14 <br />Administrator Ericson stated if the Council knows of a resident that warrants the installation of a 15 <br />caution sign, it can be authorized at the discretion of the Council. He explained how the City of 16 <br />New Brighton coordinates its bracelet program, which requires start-up costs and volunteers for 17 <br />implementation. He stated staff will check the State’s sign book to determine the appropriate 18 <br />wording of a sign for an autistic child. 19 <br /> 20 <br />Council Member Hull stated several residents have raised the issue of a community garden. Clerk-21 <br />Administrator Ericson stated staff is aware of several community garden programs and reviewed 22 <br />the issues that need to be addressed such supply of water, liability, and available space. 23 <br /> 24 <br />Council consensus was reached to request a recommendation from the Parks and Recreation 25 <br />Commission on the creation of a community garden program. 26 <br /> 27 <br />Council Member Stigney stated a resident has indicated that Silver View Park needs to be cleaned 28 <br />and suggested it be done before the grass begins to grow. Council Member Mueller noted a Cub 29 <br />Scout Pack may be interested in doing that as a service project. 30 <br /> 31 <br />Council Member Stigney stated another area that needs to be cleaned is next to the Mounds View 32 <br />Animal Hospital that is owned by the Silver Lake Commons. Clerk-Administrator Ericson stated 33 <br />Code enforcement staff will follow up on that issue. 34 <br /> 35 <br />Mayor Flaherty reported on a meeting of the New Brighton Historical Society that he and Clerk-36 <br />Administrator Ericson had attended. He encouraged anyone interested in starting a Mounds View 37 <br />Historical Society to contact City Hall. 38 <br /> 39 <br />Mayor Flaherty thanked staff for organizing and residents for attending the fifth annual Town Hall 40 <br />Meeting. Council Member Mueller asked when the new City logo will be posted to the City’s 41 <br />website. Clerk-Administrator stated it should be posted some time this week. 42 <br /> 43 <br /> B.
