<br /> <br />Item No: 8F <br />Meeting Date: Jan 14, 2008 <br />Type of Business: Consent <br />Administrator Review : _______ <br />City of Mounds View Staff Report <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />To: Honorable Mayor and City Council <br />From: James Ericson, Interim City Administrator <br />Item Title/Subject: Resolution 7208 Amending Resolution 7153 by <br />Incorporating a Clause Consenting to an Exemption to <br />Vacation Carry-Over Regulations <br /> <br /> <br />Introduction: <br /> <br />On September 10, 2007, the City Council approved Resolution 7153, a resolution appointing <br />Jim Ericson as the Interim City Administrator. <br /> <br />Discussion: <br /> <br />In discussions with previous City Administrator Ulrich in August of 2007, I had indicated that <br />naturally I would be willing to act in an interim capacity until such time that the Council hired <br />a new administrator. One of my reservations I had expressed however was the potential for <br />not being able to utilize accrued vacation balance and be subject to carry-over restrictions. <br />(This had been an issue at the end of 2003 after having served as interim administrator that <br />year.) Mr. Ulrich agreed that such a provision would seem to make sense, however the <br />clause was omitted from the adopted resolution. While I am not at risk of losing any vacation <br />time going into 2008, it is possible that at the end of 2008 I may not have had ample <br />opportunity to utilize accrued hours. <br /> <br />Recommendation: <br /> <br />I am requesting that the City Council approve attached Resolution 7208 amending <br />Resolution 7153 by adding a new “now therefore be it further resolved” clause consenting to <br />an exemption from vacation carry over provisions in 2008 and 2009. <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />Respectfully submitted, <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />________________________ <br />James Ericson <br />Interim City Administrator <br /> <br />
