Mounds View City Council February 25, 2008
Regular Meeting Page 4

Mayor Marty indicated that he talked to Mr. Ericson today about how the City follows the 1
regulations regarding how many occupants could live in one unit. He then suggested including 2
one person per 50 square feet. 3
4
Housing Inspector Anderson indicated that he and Mr. Ericson discussed this earlier and the 5
International Property Maintenance Code, which has been adopted by the City, does have a table 6
that lists the maximum number of people per square foot. This table could be provided to 7
people, or it could be added to the Code for clarity. 8
9
Interim Administrator Ericson suggested adding the information to Chapter 1005, the Housing 10
Code in the occupancy section rather in this ordinance. The other thing to point out is, that often 11
times there are restrictions in leases that are more restrictive than the City’s Code. 12
13
Council Member Mueller indicated that she would like to tie in the International Property 14
Maintenance Code requirements into this. 15
16
Housing Inspector Anderson indicated that he feels confident that the International Property 17
Maintenance Code could be referenced. 18
19
MOTION/SECOND: Mueller/Stigney. To Waive the Reading and Adopt Ordinance 802, an 20
Ordinance Amending Chapter 1012 of the Mounds View Municipal Code Relating to Inspection 21
and Licensure of Rental Dwellings and Authorize Summary Publication. 22
23
Ayes – 5 Nays – 0 Motion carried. 24
25
C. Resolution 7231, Appointing Gary Stevenson as Chair and Jean Miller as 26
Vice-Chair of the Planning Commission 27
28
Interim Administrator Ericson reported that the Planning Commission has recommended 29
appointing Gary Stevenson as Chair and Jean Miller as Vice-Chair. Resolution 7231 would 30
approve that appointment. 31
32
MOTION/SECOND: Marty/Hull. To Waive the Reading and Approve Resolution 7231, 33
Appointing Gary Stevenson as Chair and Jean Miller as Vice-Chair of the Planning Commission. 34
35
Ayes – 5 Nays – 0 Motion carried. 36
37
D. Resolution 7228 Accepting a Donation from Bethlehem Baptist Church and 38
Authorizing Disbursement of Funds as Specified 39
40
Interim Administrator Ericson reported that Bethlehem Baptist Church has provided its first half 41
donation, and they have taken into consideration the Council’s request to benefit more directly 42
Mounds View residents. He then noted that the Church has requested that the donation be 43
dedicated to family friendly activities at Festival in the Park, The City’s Park and Recreation 44
Fund, and YMCA Partners. 45
