After the interviews were completed, the City Council did make a decision to appoint internal candidate, Jim Ericson, Community Development Director, to the position of City Clerk/Administrator. This appointment will be presented for formal action and approval by the City Council at this City Council Meeting (Item 07I of the Agenda). When formal approval is made to appoint Jim Ericson as Clerk-Administrator, the Community Development Director position will become vacant. Staff would like to start the process of advertising the position immediately upon formal approval of Mr. Ericson’s employment agreement. Below is a proposed hiring schedule: Council Authorization to Advertise: March 24, 2008 Sunday edition of the Star Tribune: March 30 and April 6, 2008 (this position will also be advertised on the City’s Website and on the League of MN Cities website) Deadline for Submitting Applications: April 30, 2008 @430pm Review all Applications: May 1 and 2, 2008 Top 5 Candidates Decided: May 5, 2008 Interviews: May 7, 8, and 9, 2008 Top Candidate Presented to the City Council May 26, 2008 Candidate starts employment: on or about June 16, 2008 This schedule is exacting the same schedule proposed for the Public Works Director position.
