After the interviews were completed, <br />the City Council did make a decision to appoint internal candidate, Jim Ericson, <br />Community Development Director, to the position of City Clerk/Administrator. This <br />appointment will be presented for formal action and approval by the City Council at this <br />City Council Meeting (Item 07I of the Agenda). <br /> <br />When formal approval is made to appoint Jim Ericson as Clerk-Administrator, the <br />Community Development Director position will become vacant. Staff would like to start the <br />process of advertising the position immediately upon formal approval of Mr. Ericson’s <br />employment agreement. Below is a proposed hiring schedule: <br /> <br />Council Authorization to Advertise: March 24, 2008 <br /> <br />Sunday edition of the Star Tribune: March 30 and April 6, 2008 <br />(this position will also be advertised <br />on the City’s Website and on <br /> the League of MN Cities website) <br /> <br />Deadline for Submitting Applications: April 30, 2008 @430pm <br /> <br />Review all Applications: May 1 and 2, 2008 <br /> <br />Top 5 Candidates Decided: May 5, 2008 <br /> <br />Interviews: May 7, 8, and 9, 2008 <br /> <br />Top Candidate Presented to the City Council May 26, 2008 <br /> <br />Candidate starts employment: on or about June 16, 2008 <br /> <br />This schedule is exacting the same schedule proposed for the Public Works Director <br />position. Staff intends to authorize to hire a qualified candidate for both the Community
