This total estimated project cost of $176,470.75 for the Mounds View portion of the project compares to the revised estimated project cost of $177,675.00 that was presented to the City Council on April 28, 2008 and included the approved modifications to the project. Advertise for Bids – As per state statute, with an estimated construction amount in excess of $100,000, publication must be made at least three weeks before the last day to submit bids. The advertisement must be published at least once in the official newspaper and at least once in either a trade paper or a newspaper that is published in a first class city. Staff seeks authorization to advertise for bids for the 2008 Street Maintenance Project. Assuming authorization is given, the advertisement would appear in the Construction Bulletin trade publication on May 19, 2008 and in the official City newspaper on May 21, 2008. A copy of the advertisement that has been written for the project is attached. The advertisement would also be included in the project manual provided to each bidder. Bid Date – Bids for the project are proposed to be opened at 10:00 A.M. on June 12, 2008. This meets the 21 day requirement after the advertisement would appear in each publication. Project Schedule – The project continues to proceed in accordance with the schedule stated in the Feasibility Report and provided to the City Council on previous occasions: May 12, 2008 City Council Approves Plans and Specifications, sets a June 12, 2008 bid date, and authorizes the advertisement for bids June 12, 2008 Bids Received (Thursday 10:00 AM, Mounds View City Hall) June 23, 2008 Construction Contract Awarded July 21, 2008 Project Begins July / August 2008 Initial Sweeping – three days after application. Second sweeping – 30 days after application August 30, 2008 Project Completed
