Mounds View City Council April 14, 2008 <br />Regular Meeting Page 16 <br /> <br /> 1 <br />Clerk-Administrator Ericson reviewed the feedback recap provided by Staff on the 2 <br />Redevelopment Roundtable meeting. 3 <br /> 4 <br />Council Member Flaherty indicated that he would like to let this unique opportunity be known to 5 <br />all developers as he would not like to commit to one developer at this point. 6 <br /> 7 <br />Clerk-Administrator Ericson indicated that Staff would prefer that the existing RFP agreement 8 <br />expire and then allow Staff to work with any developer. 9 <br /> 10 <br />Mayor Marty would like to look into marketing the City and the properties that the City does 11 <br />have. 12 <br /> 13 <br />4. Reminder—Employee Appreciation Luncheon, May 21, 2008 14 <br /> 15 <br />Clerk-Administrator Ericson reminded Council of the Employee Appreciation Luncheon on May 16 <br />21, 2008 at the Community Center. 17 <br /> 18 <br />5. Reminder—Town Hall Meeting, Saturday, April 19, 2008, 9:00 am - 19 <br />Noon 20 <br /> 21 <br />Clerk-Administrator Ericson read the Press Release regarding the Mounds View Police 22 <br />Department’s Outstanding Award from MADD for increasing by over 200% their drunk driving 23 <br />arrests. 24 <br /> 25 <br />Finance Director Beer indicated that new radio read meters are being installed. He then said that 26 <br />the vendor has decided to start charging and the City is going to partner with the City of 27 <br />Columbia Heights for use of the readers/to borrow their equipment. 28 <br />(this is questionable-per C. Mueller’s notes) 29 <br /> 30 <br />Finance Director Beer indicated that last summer there was a water service that failed where the 31 <br />pipe pulled away from the meter, and flooded a basement and there was another one just recently. 32 <br />He then said that there is a tool to fuse couplings to prevent this from happening again, so all 27 33 <br />residents are being notified of the need to use this tool to fuse the coupling to prevent this 34 <br />situation in the future. 35 <br /> 36 <br />Council Member Mueller indicated she is concerned with not having agreements in place for 37 <br />loaning and borrowing equipment. 38 <br /> 39 <br />Staff and Council explained that “gentlemen agreements” is how the city has operated on other 40 <br />loaning or borrowing equipment with other cities and Ramsey County. Finance Director Beer 41 <br />explained that the equipment from Columbia Heights would be insured and the City, if it were to 42 <br />break while being used here, would only need to pay the deductible amount of $500. 43 <br /> 44
