Item No. 7A <br />Meeting Date: May 12, 2008 <br />Type of Business: CB <br />WK: Work Session; PH: Public Hearing; <br />CA: Consent Agenda; CB: Council Business <br />City Administrator Review _______ <br />City of Mounds View Staff Report <br />To:Honorable Mayor and City Council <br />From:Joe Rhein, Consulting Engineer <br />Item Title/Subject:Resolution 7273 Approving the Plans and <br />Specifications, Setting a Bid Date, and <br />Authorizing the Advertisement for Bids for the <br />2008 Street Maintenance Project <br />Background: <br />On January 28, 2008 the City Council approved Resolution 7213 authorizing the <br />preparation of a preliminary feasibility report and the selection of a consultant for <br />the 2008 Street Maintenance Project (Seal Coat Project). <br />On February 11, 2008 the City Council approved Resolution 7222 authorizing the <br />preparation of a Joint Powers Agreement and setting a Public Improvement <br />Hearing date for the 2008 Street Maintenance Project. <br />On March 10, 2008 the City Council held the Public Improvement Hearing and <br />subsequently approved Resolution 7234 approving the feasibility report, ordering <br />the project, authorizing the preparation of plans and specifications, and <br />approving a Joint Powers Agreement with the City of Spring Lake Park. <br />On March 17, 2008 the Spring Lake Park City Council also approved the Joint <br />Powers Agreement and authorized preparation of the plans and specifications. <br />On April 28, 2008 the City Council authorized minor modifications to the <br />improvements identified in the Feasibility Report, including the deletion of seal <br />coating for the Police Department and Sally Port parking lots, and the inclusion of <br />crack sealing for the project streets in the construction contract.
