Item No.07C Meeting Date: July 28, 2008 Type of Business: CB City Administrator Review _______ City of Mounds View Staff Report To: Honorable Mayor and City Council From: Desaree Crane, Assistant City Clerk-Administrator Item Title/Subject: Resolution 7304, Approving the 2008 Festival in the Park Contract At the January and February Work Sessions, the Festival Committee requested the City’s assistance in funding for insurance, professional bands, port-a-potties, marching band, use of the City’s copier machine and the car and tractor show, as it was done at last year’s festival. The City Council along with representatives of the Festival in the Park Committee discussed this request at the February 4, 2008, Work Session. It was the consensus of the City Council at the February Work Session to help the Festival Committee in funding for the following below: Insurance $1,000.00 Professional Bands $1,000.00 Port-a-Potties $800.00 Marching Band $1,000.00 Use of City Copier Machine $500.00 Car and Tractor Show $1,000.00 Total: $5,300.00 The $1,000.00 for the Car and Tractor Show would cover for the Dash Plaques, trophies and the music DJ. In addition, it was the consensus of the 50th Anniversary Committee to assist the Festival Committee in funding parade activities and children entertainment, not to exceed $2,675.00. Listed below are the activities purchased with these funds: The Zurah Mariners Motorized boats. (Parade) - $600.00 Tom’s Mechanical Music Calliope & other musical units (Parade and Children Entertainment) - $600.00 Kracker Jacks 5 man unit that performs drums (Parade) - $700.00 Rockin Woodie Children’s act. Plays guitar, saxophone and juggles. (Children Entertainment) - $400.00 Magician 45 Minute magic performance - $375.00
