RESOLUTION 7308 <br /> <br />CITY OF MOUNDS VIEW <br />COUNTY OF RAMSEY <br />STATE OF MINNESOTA <br /> <br /> <br />RESOLUTION APPROVING THE PURCHASE OF A GRINDER PUMP FOR <br />GROVELAND LIFT STATION. <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the request was placed on the July Work Session, and approved for <br />consideration pending current information on cost. <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the pumps at Groveland are antiquated and unable to pass solids <br />through without a grinder. <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the pumps haven’t had a major retro-fitting since 2001, <br /> <br />WHEREAS, failure of one or both pumps could cause major sewage backups <br />into residents home’s, <br /> <br />WHEREAS, staff recommends a grinder pump as the most economical solution <br />to the problem at Groveland Lift Station. <br /> <br />WHEREAS, staff has $15,000 budgeted for contingency purposes, and $50,000 <br />for manhole rehabilitation and general sewer maintenance (730-4823-5160) <br /> <br />WHEREAS, staff has obtained quotes from Braun Service ($31, 878.50) and <br />Electric Pump ($30,161.00). <br /> <br />WHEREAS, Electric Pump’s quote of $30,161.00 is significantly less than the <br />quote from Braun Pump at $31,878.50 <br /> . <br />WHEREAS, staff recommends to Council that the City of Mounds View purchase <br />and contract Electric Pump to supply and install a grinder in our Groveland Lift Station <br />for the sum of $30,161.00 The City of Mounds View will be responsible for supplying <br />electrician to finish wire the grinder with power. . <br /> <br />NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the Mounds View City Council does <br />hereby approve the purchase and installation of a grinder from Electric Pump of Mpls. <br />MN. <br /> <br />Adopted this 28th day of July 2008. <br /> <br /> ____________________________________ <br /> Rob Marty, Mayor <br />ATTEST: <br /> ____________________________________ <br /> Jim Ericson, City Administrator <br />(seal)
