Presentation by Louis Jambois of Metro Cities (formerly the Association 4 <br /> of Metropolitan Municipalities) 5 <br /> 6 <br />Mr. Jambois appeared before Council and made a presentation outlining the services that Metro 7 <br />Cities provides for its member cities. They are a lobbying body that works closely with the 8 <br />League of Minnesota Cities. They worked with the City of Minnetonka on their electronic 9 <br />billboard issues. 10 <br /> 11 <br />Council Member Mueller asked whether there has been any feedback from the rural communities 12 <br />on the focusing of transportation dollars on the metro areas where the most people live. 13 <br /> 14 <br />Mr. Jambois said there hasn’t been a lot of feedback yet on this recent change. 15 <br /> 16 <br />Mayor Marty noted that the City used to be members but had to reduce memberships due to 17 <br />tough economic times. He then said that the Council would consider this during the budgeting 18 <br />process. 19 <br /> 20 <br />Valerie Amundson of 3048 Wooddale Drive asked if each City’s vote is equal or proportional 21 <br />based on population. 22 <br /> 23 <br />Mr. Jambois said that each vote would receive one vote. 24 <br /> 25 <br />7. COUNCIL BUSINESS 26 <br /> 27 <br /> A. Continued Public Hearing: Second Reading and Adoption of Ordinance 810, 28 <br /> Amending Chapter 8 (Public Improvements and Special Assessments), and 29 <br /> Chapter 12 (Miscellaneous and Transitory Provisions) of the Mounds View 30 <br /> City Charter 31 <br /> 32 <br />Clerk Administrator Ericson noted that this is something that the Charter Commission and City 33 <br />Staff have been working on for the past year. This would provide the City with an opportunity to 34 <br />have unpaid fines certified to property taxes. 35 <br /> 36 <br />Mayor Marty closed the public hearing at 7:43 p.m. 37 <br /> 38 <br />MOTION/SECOND: Stigney/Flaherty. To Waive the Reading and Adopt Ordinance 810, 39 <br />Amending Chapter 8 (Public Improvements and Special Assessments), and Chapter 12 40 <br />(Miscellaneous and Transitory Provisions) of the Mounds View City Charter. 41 <br /> 42 <br />Council Member Stigney thanked the Charter Commission for its work on this matter. 43 <br /> 44 <br />ROLL CALL: Mueller/Flaherty/Hull/Stigney/Marty. 45
