Ice rinks
remained open for approximately one week long than anticipated because the weather
remained cold.
The March/April Recreation activities were planned and the brochure was prepared during
the month of February with distribution by March. Registrations for Spring activities began.
Youth athletic registrations and adult softball registrations also began. A Saturday
registration for youth athletics was held along with a parent's meeting on Saturday, March
16. Several Parks and Recreation Commissioners assisted with this process.
The month of March is always an "in-between" month where the weather is still "iffy" and
considerations must be for potential snowfalls as well as the need to be ready for spring time
park prep. Equipment used for winter activities must also be used for spring park prep and
the switch overs must occur. In addition, park materials such as grass sees, fertilizers,
building repair needs, equipment parts, field chalk and paint and other materials must be
ordered.
February and March are a good month for training. Steve attended Word Perfect 5.1
computer classes and also Traffic class. Jeff attended Sewer certification classes in
January.
Mary Sa , Director of Park'Rec ation and Forestry
RE c OMMENDATION;
