After spending a weekend with each department director and the Council, I feel like part of <br /> the "team" at the City of Mounds View. I want to thank everyone for their warm welcome! <br /> Also, I am quite impressed with the genuine team spirit and enthusiasm of all. I have <br /> worked with several cities and can honestly say that both the staff and the council put aside <br /> any special interest they may have to preserve and enhance the overall quality of life and <br /> business climate of their city. I am proud to be a player at the City of Mounds View and <br /> look forward to.contributing to its growth and prosperity. <br /> Cathy <br /> ( PARKS, RECREATION AND-FORESTRY <br /> PARKS: <br /> * Monday began the adult softball league season using three fields (City <br /> Hall and Silver View field #1 and #2) to serve over 82 adult teams! <br /> * Wednesday began the installation of Greenfield Park baseball field netting <br /> - hopefully to make a positive difference in the number of foul balls <br /> trespassing onto adjacent homeowners backyards. <br /> * The pile of woodchips located at Random Park parking lot are for the <br /> Adapted Recreation Club - they participated in a planting project at <br /> Random Park led by Forester Wriskey. The remaining woodchips are <br /> available for the general public or will be spread out at Random as time <br /> allows. <br /> RECREATION: <br /> * Mary crunched out 13 league schedules, assigned umpires and opened the <br /> season without a problem - knock on wood! Weather permitting for the <br /> rest of the week - we'll have a successful opening week of softball. <br /> * Everyone is working to meet the deadline for summer activities to be <br /> printed in the May/June Newsletter. This is always a "biggy". <br /> * The after school track program begins this week. Sunnyside School track <br /> equipment is old and unsafe and therefore we are having to do some <br /> arranging, begging, borrowing, (haven't had to steal anything yet) to <br />
