I will be off on Friday. My daughter is doing better, but the nights of taking care of her
have made me feel like I was hitby the bus. I think I will sleep all day!
Thank you all for inquiring about her condition. Your kindness and concern meant a
great deal to me and my family. You are all not just Council and fellow City staff, but
a wonderful, very caring group of people that I am very lucky to know. THANK YOU!!
Samantha
Economic Development
Attraction Requests:
I received two requests this week for companies interested in office and manufacturing space.
Both requests were forwarded to Everest Development for potential location in the 20,000
sq.ft. vacant space in Mounds View Business Park South.
1. A heating and printing systems start-up company that is interested in leasing an existing
1,000 sq. ft. of office space with the potential for expansion in a year. They called City
Hall directly because The City of Mounds View was their target area.
2. A pasta manufacturing company based out of Milwaukee is interested in 15,000 sq. ft.
existing industrial space. This request came from the Metro East Development
Partnership.
Retention Efforts:
I met with Richard Woolens, North Suburban Schwinn business owner, regarding the
business climate in Mounds View. I conveyed the aggressive programs the City of Mounds
View will be implementing in the next few years regarding retention, attraction,
redevelopment, housing rehabilitation and image building.
Outreach:
Last week I was interviewed by Barbara Haake for the local cable show "A View from the
Mound". I discussed the new economic development coordinator and housing intern
positions and responsibilities. The show will air this month.
I also attended the Metro East Development Partnership (MEDP) annual breakfast meeting in
Shoreview. The meeting introduced the new executive president of MEDP and included
comments on the partnership efforts of the Metro East area, including Ramsey, Dakota and
Washington Counties, by the Mayor of St. Paul, representative of a small start-up company
Envirocycle and regional manager from State Farm Insurance Company.
