Marketing Efforts:
I have begun collecting data for the City of Mounds View's Community Profile. Please
provide me with any ideas on information your feel should be included in the profile. I
would like to interject as much positive information about the City as possible.
Cathy
PERSONNEL
Golf Course Superintendent Position
On Wednesday, May 4, Samantha, Mary S., Shaun McDonough (the Golf Course
Superintendent from the City of Roseville) and I interviewed seven candidates for the Golf
Course Superintendent position. There were several very well qualified candidates. A
recommendation for Council consideration of hire will be presented at Monday's meeting.
Public Works Maintenance Worker Position
Tim Fredberg will begin working for the City on Monday, May 9. There is a staff welcome
reception planned for 8:30 a.m. and he will spend the rest of the day with each city
department to learn each function and gain a better understanding of how the City operates.
Planning Associate/Code Enforcement Officer Position
The advertisement for this position was in last Sunday's (5/1) Minneapolis Star Tribune and
St. Paul Pioneer Press. So far we have received about 30 requests for applications.
Additional City Hall Improvements
The painting is almost complete and the carpentry work is scheduled to begin next week.
Replacing the ceiling tiles in the Council Chambers, the upstairs's bathroom's and the main
entryway hall has also been completed already. Its amazing what a little paint and new
ceiling tiles can do to make the interior of the facility look nicer.
We hope to have the final details of the City Hall Expansion project completed by next
week. The contractor's still have some rough grading and some caulking on the exterior to
do.
Volunteer Firefighters
After Monday evening's discussion on this topic, Fire Chief Fagerstrom provided
information to City staff who were interested in serving as volunteer firefighters and we
learned there is a scheduling conflict. Firefighting courses and other training is scheduled
for Monday evening's and Tuesday morning's only. This presents a problem because the
time commitment and time conflict would be too much of a drain on City staffing levels.
