PUBLIC WORKS
This Is It for Public Works was not received.
Mike
JCOMMUNITY
DEVELOPMENT
INTEREST IN TOM THUMB SITE
Staff received an inquiry as to the cost, zoning and allowable uses for the old
Tom Thumb property on Knollwood Drive just North of County Road H2. A
resident is interested in operating an insurance agency on the site. The
Municipal Code allows for professional offices in B-1 districts (the properties
current classification). After reviewing the land use and planning issues with
the resident, Staff directed him to Cathy Bennett for assistance in small business
loan availabilities. Staff is hopeful that this long-vacant property will have a
new tenant in the not to distant future.
CLEAN-UP DAY UPDATE
Staff has received a number of calls this week from residents whom are
extremely pleased that the clean-up day is scheduled. Even though the event is
not City subsidized, most of the callers agreed that the clean-up will benefit the
City greatly. Also, a number of callers commented on the article in the
newsletter regarding the hiring of a full-time Code Enforcement Officer. All
those commenting supported the City and hope that the nuisance abatement
program will be a success.
Paul H.
