ISIT . . a .
For the Week of May 16 - May 20, 1994
ADMINISTRATION
MWCC Meeting
On Tuesday of this week staff and the golf course architects met with representatives
of the MWCC to discuss the Blaine Interceptor Project and its impact on the City's
golf course. It was at this meeting that staff learned that the MWCC planned to begin
the interceptor project south of Hwy 118 and move north of 118 sometime in July. To
say that this schedule is detrimental to our golf course construction schedule is an
understatement of monumental proportion.
The MWCC also stated that it was not their intent to restore the golf course site to
anything other than the way it was when they bid the project even though the
condition of the section of the course they would be working on is vastly different
than existed earlier in the year. To add insult to injury they also had no intention of
replacing the many trees they would be removing on the golf course site.
Their attitude at the start of the meeting was one of benign neglect of the City's
interests and a failure to realize the importance of our project schedule.
Representative Geri Evans arrived at the meeting about 45 minutes into the meeting
and immediately the position of the MWCC group changed from an attitude of "this is
the way it is going to be" to "conditions have changed and it is possible to work out
the problems that have been identified." MWCC admitted that the soil borings
conducted on property south of 118 had delayed the project 2 months.
Our position is that the MWCC project has already delayed our construction schedule
