Annual City Manager Conference
Samantha and I were at Cragun's last Wednesday, Thursday and Friday for the
annual City Managers Conference. The speakers were good and the weather even
better. I literally tore up the golf course. They should sell grounds repair insurance.
Liquor License Meeting
In response to Ed Donetelle's request to the Council for the City to reexamine the
liquor license fee structure for on-sale with cabaret, a meeting was called and held at
Donetelle's. Ed was present along with Charlie Hall of the Mermaid and Bob Waste of
Roberts off 10. Cathy Bennett and I listened to their concerns and possible policy
options. The options discussed were 1) leave the fee structure as is ($5,000 +
$85/100 sq. ft. of public area in excess of 4,000 sq. ft. not to exceed $10,000/yr.); 2)
base the fee on the number of police calls made annually; 3) base the fee on volume
of liquor sold or gross receipts of liquor sales; 4) base fee on sq. footage of area
where liquor is served and area where food and liquor are served; and 5) a
combination of all of the above. These options will be brought to the June work
session for Council consideration and discussion.
Tim C.
PARKS, RECREATION AND FORESTRY
PARKS:
* Already Steve has had to repair the Hustler mower and the Howard Price.
Again, these two mowers are up for replacement in 1995. We just need to get
through this summer - they are very tired machines.
* Jeff has been on the mowers almost constantly trying to keep up with the
grass. Three of the four seasonals will begin work towards the end of next
week. They will be warmly welcomed and much appreciated!
• The resurfacing of Groveland Park tennis courts was scheduled for last week,
but the company was delayed with a project in Eagan. Therefore the schedule
has been postponed for work to be done towards the end of this week and
possibly into the weekend.
* We have received a complaint of softballs hitting two manor homes which are
located directly behind Silver View field #2 left field and field #1 right field.
These two homes are in the line of homeruns which occur when the wind is
