I am taking Deborah Barkley, Manager of Business Development from Metro East
Development Partnership (MEDP), for a tour of the City on Friday. She is specifically
interested in the Mounds View Business Park and other potential sites for commercial
and industrial expansion. Also, I will show her the golf course site and our beautiful
parks. MEDP can be a tremendous asset in selling Mounds View to potential
prospects.
Marketing Efforts:
I am still working on Mounds View's Community Profile. I have collected and entered
most of the data and will begin design concept next week.
Cathy
Golf Course Superintendent
On Monday, May 23, Kurt Johnson, the new Golf Course Superintendent, will begin.
He will be welcomed aboard with an all staff reception at 9:30 and will be meeting
with the City Departments throughout the course of the day. Kurt will also be present
at Monday's Council meeting to meet the Council members and introduced to the
Community.
Planning Associate/Code Enforcement Officer Position
The City has received 41 applications for the Planning Associate/Code Enforcement
Officer position. 9 candidates will be interviewed on Tuesday, May 24. The interview
panel will consist of Council member Trude, Samantha, Paul and myself.
Additional City Hall Improvements
The landscape work has begun and is scheduled to be completed by the end of the
week. They have sodded the West side of the building, put up a keystone wall in the
front of City Hall and have done some rough grading. The door stops with holders
have also been installed so now we don't have to prop open our doors with pieces of
carpet and wooden wedges. Electricity has been run to the shelter nearest City Hall
to accommodate needs for Festival in the Park and picnickers. Carpentry work
(building a minute room in the copier room, finishing off the storage area downstairs
and enclosing the electrical panels in the new women's rest room downstairs) was
suppose to begin this week but the carpenter fell ill.
On Friday (5/20), the floor surfacing company will be out again to attempt to better
match the existing color of the floor surface to the surface they recently completed.
Faircon, the HVAC service company, was out on Wednesday and repaired the air
conditioning unit in the Council Chambers. This should take care of that hideous
squealing noise.
