REQUEST FOR COUNCIL CONSIDERATION Agenda Section: 2.
Ink
_ STAFF REPORT Report Number: 94-1183WS
e_ June 6, 1994
AGENDA SESSION DATE Report Date: 6-2-94
DISPOSITION
Item Description: Discussion Regarding Manufactured Home Park Emergency Plans
Administrator's Review/Recommendation
- No comments to supplement this rep t , ,
- Comments attached.
xplanation7Summary (attach supplement -- s as necessary.)
SUMMARY;
In January 1994 , the Emergency Plans for Townsedge, Colonial Village and
Mounds View Manufactured Home Parks were rejected by the City Council
(Resolution No. 4486) . The reason for the rejection was because of the
lack of on site storm shelters in all three Manufactured Home Parks.
The City took a stand that the Manufactured Home Parks should have their
own storm shelters on site for the safety of their residence. Ramsey
County Health Department, Ramsey County Emergency Service, and the City
of Mounds View Emergency Service Director agreed on this decision.
We have met with the owners/managers of all three parks to find a
solution. All three Manufactured Home Parks have sent letters of
intent to build on site storm shelters by June 1, 1995. The Mounds View
Emergency Service Director told them that if these deadlines were met
the City would consider approval of their existing emergency plans till
June 1, 1995. This would enable the Ramsey enable the Ramsey County
Health Dept. to license them until the 1995 date. (see attached
letters)
Staff is seeking Council direction in this matter.
David Brick, City of Mounds View Emergency Services y Director
RECOMMENDATION:
