TOWNSEDGE TERRACE
9909 South Shore Drive
Suite C
Plymouth, Minnesota 55441
May 24 , 1994
LT. Brick
City of Moundsview
2401 Highway 10
Moundsview,—MN-55112
RE: Evacuation Plans/Storm Shelter for Townsedge Terrace
Manufactured Home Park
Dear LT. Brick:
Since the Moundsview City Council rejected our Emergency
Evacuation plan on January 25, 1994 you have requested that we
submit a new plan or proposal to handle emergency evacuation.
In talking with you and others at the City Hall it has been made
clear that no other evacuation plan will be allowed, except an
on-site shelter. We are hereby informing you thatwe will
cooperate with the cities request and build a storm shelter,
provided that we can build it on the site we have chosen and can
obtain the variances needed concerning setbacks . The only
available site for the shelter is in the front of the park
property. Any other location would require the taking of rental
lots which would make this project unfeasible.
I have already applied for setback variances and will
continue with that process . We understand that the construction
deadline is May 1 , 1995 and expect to meet that deadline weather
permitting.
According to the formula you have for space requirements we
will need to build over 1800 square feet of space . Judging from
our past experience there were very few people who sought shelter
at the City Hall basement or any other shelter . We would
therefore ask the City to consider a smaller building that would
be more practical for the number of people using it . Please let
us know if this is a consideration.
Sincerely,
Vern Larsen
Property Manager
(612) 542-1189 Fax (612) 542-3263
A Manufactured Housing Community
