Your Community, Improving the Business Climate in the Community, Economic
Development Innovations, Grants: Where Are They?, Economic and Community
Development Resources and Promoting Your Small City. I'm looking forward to
absorbing lots of information and ideas to utilize throughout the year!
Outreach:
Northern States Power:
I will be meeting with our representative from NSP to discuss joint efforts in attraction
and retention. From my experiences, electric and gas utilities are a tremendous
economic development asset and I plan to utilize their resources to the fullest.
Suburban Area Chamber of Commerce:
I received a call from the president of the Suburban Area Chamber of Commerce,
Gary Wink. Apparently, Mark Malone from Western Bank has become involved with
the Chamber and suggested a joint meeting to discuss stronger participation from the
City of Mounds View. I will be meeting with both Gary and Mark to discuss our
involvement further.
Minnesota Area Association of Realtors:
Jennifer and I will be meeting with Karen Christopherson with the Minnesota Area
Association of Realtors to discuss the housing stock in Mounds View. We will share
ideas and data related to the area. The Association could be an asset in the future
when looking to capitalize on our housing rehabilitation program.
Marketing Efforts:
A press release will be sent to local media and area city administrators announcing
the addition of Curt Johnson, Golf Course Superintendent and the planning associate
slated to be approved at the June 13th council meeting. Regardless of the coverage,
I believe in inundating the press with news from Mounds View. This is very cheap
exposure and the more they hear from us the more they will be interested. In
addition, once I have more concrete information regarding the economic recovery
grant I will sent a press release on our efforts and even call to relay the importance of
this message. This press release will probably go out the end of next week.
Cathy
