•
PARKS, RECREATION AND FORESTRY
PARKS:
* Mowing and trimming have been the primary tasks of the Parks Crew.
* The fencing along the berm at Silver View Park was installed Tuesday morning -
hopefully catching the balls which skim off the berm.
* Groveland tennis courts were resurfaced last weekend. The new surface looks much
better. I'm asking everyone's help in making sure that rollerbladers do not use the courts
for that purpose. If anyone sees rollerbladers on the courts please inform them that that
use is not appropriate on the tennis courts. Councilmember Trude and Commissioner
Stevenson have suggested that they will be willing to distribute flyers requesting tennis
play only on the newly resurfaced tennis courts.
* Two trees recently went down at Groveland and Silver View in last weekends windstorm.
Thus the immediate need for the woodchipper.
* I am meeting with Steve Campbell next week regarding options for the storm water ditch
crossing at Silver View Park.
RECREATION:
* Youth athletic team and individual pictures were taken this week. We had a terrible
experience Monday with the T-Ball teams. The company photographer was too slow and
the time became much too long making many people frustrated. We immediately called
the company to demand two photographers and a quicker process. Mission
accomplished. . . the session Tuesday evening went smoothly and on time.
* MVCT auditions will be Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday of this week. Hopefully we
will have many interested and talented people of the community auditioning for the
performance of "Oliver".
* Special appreciation to the Garden Club who planted the flower gardens at City Hall
entrance. The gardens look great. The club has special varieties of perennial plants
which they plan to mark and identify.
* Sharie chaperoned a huge trip to Southern Minnesota last week which was a huge
success. Everyone came back with smiles asking where the next adventure will be.
