QUARTERLY REPORT
PAGE SIX
AUGUST 2, 1993
26. The Parks and Recreation Commission met monthly and went on
a tour of Richfield pool and waterslide and Adventure Golf
Course.
I also wish to compliment Sharie on her excellent work with the
Senior Citizens, Garden Club, MVCT Board of Directors and
Festival Committee. Sharie has put a lot of time and effort into
facilitating these groups and she is to be commended on the
participation of all these special community groups.
Mary too has done an excellent job with the difficult
expectations of athletic associations, adult leagues and in-house
volunteer coaches. These groups traditionally have been
difficult to work with because of the limited athletic facilities
and the high demand for use. Never are the fields good enough,
there is always the request for better fencing, more distance,
more fields, longer daylight, etc. Of course everyone is
demanding time and facilities that have a finite amount of time
and space. To provide equitable and fair opportunity for all is
a job that must be done - he is the lucky one - and he has done
it admirably.
CABLE TV:
1. The Cable Committee met monthly to plan monthly programming.
During two of the meetings, members of New Brighton Cable
Committee attended to gain insight into the workings of our
Cable TV Committee - - a working membership.
2 . The Cable Committee the monthly edition of "A View From the
Mound" and the Mayor's Report.
3 . Regular Council meetings were cable cast.
4 . Special programming included the meeting on the Storm Water
Management Plan and youth summer athletic games.
5. Jerry also worked on estimates and proposals for a better
system for the Council Chambers for displayed information.
FORESTRY:
1. Most of Rick's messages have been forwarded to his New
Brighton office - where he returns most calls. Although
Rick comes in for messages once or more a week, he is
basically in and out. Problems and work coordination is
most often done over the phone.
