:7 Agenda Section: 9.E <br /> UM REQUEST FOR COUNCIL CONSIDERATION Report Number. 93-500C <br /> STAFF REPORT Report Date: <br /> 3-18-93 <br /> ❑ Special Order of Business <br /> CITY COUNCIL MEETING DATE March 22, 1993 0 Public Hearings <br /> ❑ Consent Agenda <br /> tIcl Council Business <br /> Item Description: Consideration of APproving the Selection of Firm to Conduct the Market Analysis <br /> for the Proposed 9 Hole Golf Course <br /> Administrator's Review/Recommendation: <br /> - No comments to supplement this report • <br /> - Comments attached. <br /> Explanation/Summary(attach supplement sheets as necessary.) <br /> SUMMARY; <br /> • <br /> At the end of 1992 , the Council approved an expenditure of $15, 000 to <br /> conduct additional concept drawings of the golf course and to also contract <br /> with a marketing firm to conduct a marketing analysis of the proposed golf <br /> course. <br /> Staff has been negotiating with several firms over the past few months to <br /> determine the various aspects of the market analysis to make sure that all <br /> the information we need will be obtained and analyzed at a reasonable cost. <br /> • <br /> The City has received quotes from 4 marketing firms. All of the firms have <br /> excellent reputations and have conducted market studies for several area <br /> municipal golf courses. <br /> Proposals were received late in the week and did not provide sufficient <br /> time to provide the opportunity to call references and compare the <br /> proposals in terms of the procedures/process each firm will use to complete <br /> the study. Therefore, the final recommendation of a firm will be provided <br /> Monday night. <br /> The firms submitting proposals are: • <br /> National Golf Foundation - Jupiter, Florida - <br /> Golf Resource Associates, Inc. - Woodstock, Georgia <br /> Effective Golf Course Systems; Inc. - -Edina, MN <br /> .THK Associates, Inc. - Greenwood Village, Colorado <br /> The costs range from $6, 800 - $14, 000, depending on the level of analysis. <br /> Two firms proposed the same fee structure, so it will be necessary to <br /> determine if the degree of analysis meets our requirements. <br /> RECOMMENDATION: <br /> _ i �i;,�%l�L,4 <br /> Samantha •rduno, City A inistrator <br /> The recommendation will be presented Monday night. 1 <br /> 1 <br />
