:7 REQUEST FOR COUNCIL CONSIDERATION Agenda Section: 10_
111178
STAFF REPORT Report Number: 93-460WS
AGENDA SESSION DATE April 5. 1993 Report Date: 4-1-93
(DISPOSITION
Item Description: Discussion of Extension of Greenwood Drive
Administrator's Review/Recommendation:
- No comments to supplement this report _yrJ
- Comments attached. Apr
Explanation/Summary (attach supplement sheets as necessary.)
SUMMARY;
In response to resident inquiries, Staff has recently explored the
potential for the extension of Greenwood Drive north of Sherwood Road
(please see attached map) . A number of oversized lots abutting the
Greenwood Drive Right-of-Way have the potential of being subdivided into
.very attractive single family residential lots. Staff has discussed this
item with the Planning Commission and they unanimously support the idea of
sending an informational letter to property owners who would be affected
by the extension. The letter would explain the process of creating a
special assessment district and, give an approximate cost associated with
the development of the street to those property owners. Residents would
• be asked to respond to the City on a survey form included with the
informational letter.
The purpose of the letter is two-fold. (1) the survey will give Staff a
definitive feel for how receptive residents are to the idea of extending
Greenwood Drive and, (2) the success of the letter and survey (or lack
thereof) can provide Staff with an idea of how to deal with similar
situations within the City in the future (i.e. the extension of Knollwood
Drive south of Ardan Avenue) .
If deemed appropriate by the Council, Staff will begin drafting the
informational letter and survey. A copy of both will be provided to the
Council prior to mailing.
,✓ / L
` Paul Harrington, Cit/Planner
• RECOMMENDATION;
w
