CITY NEW BRIGHTON TEL :6365053 Apr 01 '93 16 :21 No .018 P .01 <br /> DAFT <br /> $FSOLVTION RELAT NG TO THEIIEGIONAL SENIOR CITIZENS CENTER <br /> WHEREAS, in September, 1992 a 21-member Task Force was established by the City Councils of <br /> the Cities of Fridley, New Brighton, MoundsView, and Spring Lake Park with the charge of <br /> studying the need for senior citizens' services and how the four cities could work together to,meet <br /> the program and facility needs for our joint senior populations; and <br /> WHEREAS, the Task Force met nearly 30 times to complete their work including a series of public <br /> information meetings in the four cities; and <br /> WHEREAS, the Task Force presented its findings to the four City Councils on March 30, 1993, <br /> with the recommendation that the four cities jointly construct and operate a regional senior citizens <br /> center; and <br /> WHEREAS, in order to establish an orderly process which allows further consideration to take place <br /> in a timely regarding the Task Force report it is necessary that each City Council indicate their <br /> interest in continuing to explore such a joint venture no later than May 15, 1993. <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City of that the City <br /> Council expresses preliminary interest in pursuing the construction of a regional senior citizen center <br /> and authorizes staff to proceed with the drafting of a proposed joint powers agreement that will spell <br /> out in more detail such issues as the timing, location, and financing of such a facility along with a <br /> proposed governance model and other factors needed for the City to make a formal decision on the <br /> Task Force recommendation. <br /> BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED to that end, the City of feels that the <br /> following issues should be addressed in order for such a formal decision to occur: <br /> Post-It'"brand fax transmittal memo 7671 lot pages 10. <br /> liMILM <br /> Dept. / [ � <br /> C:\MGR\SEN CBN.RBS Fax# 6 3 O WC 3 <br />
